When was the last time you bought something without knowing the price?

Health-related expenses aside, most of us like to know our costs before committing.

Why is it then, that so few lawyers practice fee transparency by posting information about fees for website/profile visitors to peruse? While hourly rates are not the only driver of cost – or indeed value – they do set expectations. Am I getting a quick-fix meal at McDonald’s or supping in style at an Oliver and Bonacini restaurant? No matter what I’m looking for I want to know what I’m getting in advance.

At the very least, lawyers should choose to be transparent about initial fees.

Do you offer a free initial consultation (either in person or via phone)? Do you have an $XYZ flat fee for the initial consult? We want to know.

Unsurprisingly, more information about fees was the number 2 thing that Kabuk visitors told us they wanted to see (number 1 on their wishlist was to see more verified reviews). As the Kabuk family of lawyers knows, we’ve made it very easy to add information about your fees to your Kabuk profile. I will go as far as to say that if it’s the only thing you do in 2016 to tweak your profile (and we hope you’ll do more) you should fill this section out. It will take just 2 minutes and could make a huge difference in your conversion rate.
